Emerald Ash Borers (EAB) have now been confirmed in the Omaha metro area. The current areas that should be considering Emerald Ash Borer tree treatments runs from Fort Calhoun to Plattsmouth and from Gretna to east of Council Bluffs. That’s quite an expansive area, and the borers have only been confirmed in a couple of locations. The problem with this is that it is impossible to tell at this early stage if these locations are at the heart of the problem or just one of the edges of infestation.
Now is not the time to panic if you have ash trees on your property. It’s the time to get a certified arborist’s opinion on what to do and the easiest way to accomplish that is to call Eden Tree Pros at 402-332-2839 for a free consultation.
You may have heard that it’s too late to treat your ash trees this year for Emerald Ash Borer, however that is incorrect information! We will be treating trees into the fall and since we use tree injections, each treatment will last for two seasons.
This may surprise you, but we recommend having one of our certified arborists look over your ash trees because we don’t always recommend treating an ash tree for Emerald Ash Borer. Your tree and yard will be looked at individually and the tree will be evaluated for treatment base on placement on the lot, size, maturity and the aesthetics it gives your yard.
We want you to make a treatment choice based on the big picture of what the ash tree means to your home value, not on knee-jerk reaction to local headlines. Not all trees are worth treating, and we will give you an honest recommendation based on our years of experience and let you make the final decision.
If you have an ash that you really are interested in treating for Emerald Ash Borer and would like a rough estimate of the treatment cost, it’s easy to do that yourself. Treatment costs run $12 per inch in tree diameter at breast height. To get this number simply take a measuring tape and measure around the trunk at breast height. Then take the circumference (how many inches around) ÷ 3.14. Next take this number times $12 and you’ll have your treatment cost.
For example if my ash tree is 40 inches around then 40 ÷ 3.14= 12.73, which is approximately,
13 inches x $12 =$156 for treatment.
So don’t panic, but don’t procrastinate either! Call Eden Tree Pros today for a free, no obligation estimate on what it will cost to treat the ash trees on your property for EAB.
