What spider mites look like
Spider mites are tiny arthropods, less than 1 mm long, and vary in color from yellow to red to green. Their small size makes them easy to miss until damage is already visible on the tree.
Life cycle and feeding habits
Mites live over winter as eggs on the tree, and there are many generations per year once conditions warm up. Mites feed on sap and spin a fine silk webbing among needles and leaves, which is often the first visible sign of an infestation.

Signs of damage
